Saturday the 16th of February saw the arrival of teachers from our partner school, Samkwang Elementary School, South Korea. The teachers were Mrs Choi- the Deputy Principal, Miss Choi - International Exchange Teacher, Mr Lee - Music teacher and Miss Jang.
On arrival, they toured Chinatown with Ms Dao and settled into their accomodation. On Sunday they visited the Blue Mountains with Ms Dao and Mr Green. They rode the Scenic Train and Cableway.
The school week began as usual with a flag raising assembly, however there was also a smoking ceremony held. The Koreans were intrested to take part with the Indigenous students. That same day, Mrs Popov took them on a walking tour of Sydney.
On Tuesday there was an excursion to Featherdale Wildlife Park. Thirty students along with several class teachers, the Koreans, Mrs Popov and Mrs Bellenger attended. They were all treated to pats of a snake, lizard, tawny frog mouth and koala. The Koreans then spent the afternoon in Bondi.
On Wednesday, Mrs Mullins demonstrated a cooking lesson in our new kitchen where students engaged in cooking Aussie treats including lamingtons, ANZAC biscuits, and damper. The Koreans taught 5/6LP a Korean song and Mr Green and Ms Dao also had serious meeings with them about future directions.
Thursday saw the swimming carnival for our 3-4 students which was a great day. The Koreans, along with Mr Green and Ms Dao toured Hurlstone High School at this time.
For their final day, they had a lot of fun interacting with out students. They taught a Korean traditional game- similar to hackysacks with the whold school at lunch time, along with another game to 3/4M in the Discovery Centre.
Thank you to all students for showing respect to our visitors.
